Yesterday Sunday 1st October the Choir sang at the Rose Garden in Whitehall Park to support the Macmillan Coffee morning nationwide event.
We were actually extremely lucky with the weather as the forecast was for rain....and more rain. During our performance (under a well constructed gazebo by Steve Duncan and his team) we saw no rain whatsoever.
The entire choir felt so proud to be a part of this wonderful event, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the singing. We had some lovely and encouraging comments from the audience who had braved the forecast to support Macmillan, and listen to the choir.
The coffee and home made cakes were so yummy....thanks to all the ladies who made them freshly for the day.
The rain came shortly after our performance, but this certainly didn't affect any enthusiasm for the event.
I spoke with Steve Duncan on the phone about half an hour before the event was due to finish, and he was delighted with the ongoing results, as they had collected more money at that point, than last year, which was so encouraging.
Thanks go to every member of the choir for braving the elements, and producing such a wonderful performance. Thanks also to Alan Southworth and Roy Cox for collecting all the equipment from the Church at 9.30am and setting everything up for when the Choir arrived. We also helped erect the gazebos against quite a strong wind...but well worth it in the end !!
All in all a superb day, and we felt so proud to have been able to contribute to such a wonderful cause.
