Our 2nd Celebration Christmas Meal

On Thursday, 20th December, we held our second celebration Christmas Meal at the Whitehall Hotel. Around 80 choir members and guests were there to enjoy an excellent Festive meal.

During the meal every table attempted to answer questions on the quiz sheet which was marked later in the afternoon.

A quartet from Darwen Brass entertained us with carols which we enthusiastically joined in with; this was followed by entertainment from Kyle Harrison, an excellent singer and entertainer who sang a variety of different styles of song and told us something about his career. Lots of people were dancing and singing to his music. Raffle tickets had been sold earlier in the afternoon and the lucky winners were able to select their prizes from the large number on display. Jean Smith had carefully wrapped them and they looked very exciting. A 'Name the Doll' competition took place. Jean Smith had made the doll and the aim was to guess the name which she had previously selected. This made a good sum of money for the choir funds. The quiz was marked late in the afternoon, and the winners sitting on the highest scoring table received a prize for each person. There were some very tricky questions on there!!

Holly, our sound technician was presented with flowers as a thank you for all her hard work during the year, and Mike was presented with a cash gift from everyone in the choir.

Finally at the end of the afternoon, an auction took place, the items having been donated by choir members and friends. Again, this raised over £150 for choir funds. Thank you everyone for your donations and bids - I hope you enjoy your purchses.

All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with everyone leaving in a Christmassy mood.
