What a Terrific Day at The Royal Lancashire Show

Last Saturday 12th August we sang at The Royal Lancashire Show at Salesbury Hall in Ribchester and what an absolutely superb time we all had from boarding the coach to arriving home in the late afternoon.

We boarded the coach in Darwen at 10.45 and travelled to the showground at Ribchester, where we met Sue Catlow from the Show Management Team who organised the entire day for us in such a fantastic manner, that our day just went like clockwork amongst the huge crowds who visited the show. We were then shown to the marquee which was to be the stage for our performance, and we met our good friends from The Blackburn and Darwen Band who were also performing in the same venue. They make absolutely wonderful sounds...a great band!!...We also met some of the members from the Accrington Pipe Band who were also performing at the show...once again fabulous sounds !! from the oldest Civilian Pipe Band in the UK...and possibly the world.

As soon as Blackburn and Darwen band had finished their first spot we performed at one 'o clock and it was such a pleasure to receive such lovely comments and interaction from the audience. The choir really did enjoy the experience, as only being a choir of 16 months old, to be invited to perform at such a prestigious venue as this, was a great honour and such a wonderful experience for everyone concerned. The choir really did excel themselves, and loved every minute of their performance. This was the first time we had performed in our new green polo shirts.

Lots of rehearsals had gone in to the programme of music, and Therese our brilliant MD had worked so very hard in training the choir in readiness for this massive event...Therese was so disappointed she couldn't be with us on the day as she was in Italy, but she was there in spirit with us....Thank you Therese for all your hard work.

After we had finished singing everyone then had free time until 4pm until the coach arrived to take us back to Darwen. Everyone looked around the wonderful showground at all the events and other great attractions.

We are so very pleased to have been invited to such a well organised event...thanks to everyone concerned especially Sue Catlow and her super efficient team.

We boarded the coach at 4pm to return home knowing that we had all had a great day, performed well, and made so many new friends during this terrific day....thank you everyone. ,
