An Irish Visitor To Our Choir

Last Friday we had a very special guest join us at rehearsal, Syl (short for Sylvester) Murphy, who is the brother in law of our choir member Alan Southworth. Syl had travelled from Co. Meath on a visit to Darwen, and tells us he sings in the Church Choir back home in Ireland, so he kindly joined us at rehearsal. He thoroughly enjoyed the evening with us, and we also thoroughly enjoyed Syl's company, (his singing was great too !!). He introduced us to two new songs from Ireland which everyone in the Choir thought were absolutely superb...The Fields of Athenry and Slievenamon...Syl also told us the history and the stories about the songs...

Thank you Syl for visiting us, singing with us and introducing us to the lovely songs along with their stories....

Syl you will always be welcome at The Walk This Way Choir.
