Emily Kennedy, based in Blackburn, found her love for music when her father gave her singing lessons at home from the age of five. Emily has since been in numerous choirs, including Blackburn Cathedral’s Girls’ and Young People’s Choir. She was in the Girls’ Choir for eight years attaining the status of Deputy Head Girl Chorister and joined the Young People’s Choir whilst remaining in the Girls’ Choir; she is currently still a member and has been for approximately ten years.
Emily has recently graduated with a First-Class Honours in Music: Musical Arts from Salford University. As she majored in performance and composition, she continued to develop her conducting in her spare time to unexpectedly gain a passion for leading choirs. She is currently in the process of applying for PGCE’s with an aspiration to then become a music teacher. In the future she will go on to study a masters’ degree in choral conducting to help widen her opportunities as a musical director.
